i lost two to a gecko

another to a kid

who laughed

as it crackled

above the lighter

i’m still here though

in his eternal gratitude

i’m still here

hanging on

to the ruins

of this gossamer palace

i call home

i’ll still be here

hanging on

to whatever web i have

with whatever legs i got

till the gecko gets hungry

or the kid gets bored.
